Family House, Oxfordshire

A new build, five-bedroom property situated in Thame, Oxfordshire. A new-build house, still under construction when we first started collaborating on the project. The clients were a Portuguese and American couple with diverse cultural backgrounds, wanted a beautiful, comfortable, light-filled home that reflected their tastes and interests. They own a vibrant contemporary art collection and wanted to use colour and accent pieces to complement it. The home design showcases the unique personalities and cultural histories of both clients. For instance; an antique Japanese screen holds special meaning for an American client who worked in Japan. While in the breakfast room, an aerial beach photographs from California evoke nostalgia for the Portuguese client's childhood. The home's layout allows for natural flow between rooms, offering interesting viewpoints from the central landing and hallway. Each room exudes its own personality, embellished with key pieces of artwork, an antique table, or a chandelier. By incorporating Art Deco elements and classic furnishings, we achieved a refined look, blending contemporary designer pieces with 20th-century modern antiques. The colour schemes were influenced by the art collection and their favourite fabrics. The end result is a harmonized and relaxed family home that is both beautiful and vibrant.
